21st of June, is celebrated as "International Yoga Day" every year. Yoga is a set of postures, called "asanas" that have great health benefits. Yoga is the overall transformation of a person which aims to spiritual enlightenment. 

Why should we do yoga?


Yoga has the power to calm your mind ans strengthen your body. Whether you are old or young, fit or overweight, yoga will always benefit you. Some people use yoga for relaxation, while others use it for meditation. Yoga generally includes your breathing attention. 

People of Western countries thinks yoga just as a practice of stretching body and doing asanas. Yoga is much more than just stretching. It gives physical as well as mental peace and calmness to the body. Yoga includes breathing practices, meditation, chanting and visualisation exercises.

Square breathing is a technique practiced during yoga asanas. It includes the following steps:
1. Inhale for 4 seconds.
2. Hold breath for 4 seconds.
3. Exhale for 4 seconds.
4. Keep empty for 4 seconds.
It make one cycles. Doing 12 such cycles a day will take your mental status to a different peaceful level. It makes your mind calm, focused and increases your lifespan.

The main purpose of yoga is meditation and not postures. When your body is still and your mind is controlled by the breath, you are in the best position to meditate properly. Yoga practices prepare you to meditate effectively and enhances your meditation.
