How to save environment?

The existence of nature ensures the existence of water, forests, animals, flora and fauna. A clean and healthy environment is necessary for the healthy life of everybody. Air and water pollution, global warming, acid rain, deforestation are some environmental issues which contribute to degrade our environment. How to save environment?

Increasing technological advancement in today's world is giving rise to a high amount of environmental pollution. We need to protect our environment in order to ensure a better future.
Every human living on this Earth is responsible for conserving the environment of this Earth.
Little activities can contribute largely in the conservation of environment.

There are many ways by which you can protect the environment.

1. SAY NO TO PLASTIC

Plastics are non biodegradable substances which cause soil pollution. If they are thrown in water, it will harm aquatic animals. Many countries have banned plastic bags and jute and cotton bags are using instead. As far as possible, we should use paper and cloth bags.Do not buy plastic water bottles. Carry your own water from home. Cattles like cows swallow plastic and get harmed.

2. GROW MORE TREES

Trees fight with global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, contribute to soil health and retain water. Planting more and more trees protect our environment. One must at least plant one tree a month. Trees naturally filters air and produce clean water. One acre of trees can remove up to 2.6 tons of carbon dioxide each year. Trees helps in purifying air and cooling down the streets.

3. USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Using public transport is an environment friendly mode of transportation. Public transport carry many passengers on a single vehicle, so it can reduce the number of vehicles on road and reduces noise and air pollution. Many public transports include diesel powered buses which are the cleanest vehicles on the road. Public transportation provides mobility, safety and economic benefits to people and environment.

4. RAIN WATER HARVESTING

Rain water harvesting is a method of conservation of water. It helps in restoring ground water level. The harvested water can be used in watering of gardens, livestock, irrigation etc. The harvested water can be stored for long term use. It can be used when there are drought situations in the country. Rain water harvesting provides the independent water supply during regional water restrictions in developed countries.

5. REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

The three R's- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle helps in conserving natural resources and energy. They are not hard to implement.

• REDUCE

Reducing what is produced and what is consumed is very important. You van reduce waste by purchasing durable goods and long-lasting goods.

• REUSE

Think of ways you could reuse something. Refill bottles, reuse boxes, purchase refillable pens and pencils, use cloth napkins or towels, turn empty jars into containers. Participate in reusing programs. Donate old magazines and surplus equipments.

• RECYCLE

Recycling helps to conserve resources for the future, prevents emission of green house gases and water pollutants, saves energy and supplies valueable raw materials. We must buy recycled products and contribute to our economy.
